What is a foundation, anyway?

A foundation is a sort of nonprofit savings account.  Your donations are invested, and the income of the investment is used to fund, through grants and scholarships, activities that support the goals of the foundation and the goals of each fund, as established by the fund founder.

Why do you exist?

The Roscommon County Community Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all present and future residents of the County - by providing stewardship and leadership, by attracting and holding permanent endowment funds from a wide range of donors, and by making grants of the income from its permanent endowment funds.

Ten years ago, the vision of several caring community leaders was “first a dream”.  Today the dream is alive and improving the quality of life in Roscommon County, thanks to the generosity and support from many caring individuals connected to our communities.

Your community foundation is entrusted with many funds which have been targeted by donors to support specific programs.   Students in our communities benefit from funds established to support their education.   Funds established to maintain and protect our natural resources will continue to help attract businesses, families and visitors to our communities.
