Income is used to provide a freshman year scholarship for a graduating student from either Roscommon or Houghton Lake High school. The student recipient must have demonstrated a financial need, a C+ (2.25) or better GPA, and a history of Community Service.

Mr. J’s Buckeye Nuts College Scholarship

This fund will be used to support second (Sophomore) third (Junior) and fourth (Senior) year educational costs for Roscommon Area Public School Graduates, with special consideration given to students attending Ohio State University, Bowling Green State University (Ohio), Central Michigan University, University of Cincinnati (Ohio), Michigan State University and the University of Michigan.

Applications will not be available until 2013.

Robert J. Kunik Memorial Scholarship Fund

The fund will be used as a freshman year scholarship, for a graduating student from Houghton Lake High School who has has shown an interest in, and has a clear record of pursuing the arts throughout high school, including but not limited to: English, Communication, Literature, Music, Writing/ Creative Writing and Theatre/Drama, with the intended pursuit of the aforementioned in higher education. A consistent record of at least one extra curricular activity and community involvement is a plus.  The student recipient must demonstrate a financial need and have a C+ (2.25) or better high school GPA.

This scholarship will not be available until 2013.  

Beverly Nester Memorial Scholarship

Income is used to award a freshman year scholarship at an accredited trade school, junior college or four year college for graduating students of Roscommon High School with an interest in the automotive industry. The student recipient must have demonstrated a financial need and a minimum C+ (2.25) high school GPA.

Ralph Ostling Memorial Scholarship

Income is used to award an annual scholarship for graduating students of Roscommon High School. Student must have a minimum C+ (2.25) high school GPA at time of application to qualify.

Roscommon Soccer Teams Scholarship

Income is used to provide freshman year only financial scholarships for players on the Roscommon High School Soccer Teams. To be eligible, the graduate must have been a member of the squad or manager for three (3) years. The scholarship will provide assistance with tuition, books and lab fees for a freshman to attend an accredited trade school, junior college or four year college or university within two years following graduation from Roscommon High School.

Income is unrestricted and applied to the greatest needs in the Higgins Lake / Roscommon area, as recommended by the Roscommon Rotary Club.

Summer Scholarships for Music and Sports

“Big Buck Open” Athletic Scholarship
Income is used to assist Gerrish-Higgins Roscommon high school students to attend summer athletic camps. The Fund will be used to provide a maximum $100.00 Scholarship, with the total number of scholarships determined by funds available.

Kimberly Mires Athletic and Music Scholarship
Income is used to assist Roscommon Middle School (grades 5-8) female students to attend out-of-county personal advancement camps for athletics or music.

Larry Sumerix Memorial- Summer Music Scholarship  The Fund will be used for Roscommon Middle and High School students to attend Summer Music Camps and enrichment programs, based on student/family need.

* Richard Torongo  Memorial Athletic Scholarship The fund will be used for a scholarship for Roscommon students, 5th through 8th grade to attend athletic camps.  This scholarship will be distributed once a year in the spring and based on the greatest need.
